Before Louise applied for the conservatory of Utrecht, she studied law in Amsterdam. Even whilst studying law, she had already gained much experience playing at many events and functions with a wide variety of bands such as big bands with horns, drums and percussion, or more acoustically with the accompaniment of simply a guitarist or a pianist. She would not only play at different theatre productions and dinner events, but would also write the lyrics and music for these performances.
After some years working as a lawyer, she decided to combine her professional life with extra jazz studies at the Djam, a school for jazz and improvisation. Soon after commencing these musical studies, it didn't take long for something to become clear, something she had known deep down for quite some time: performing with a microphone on stage was much more interesting than performing in a court room with a trial brief. The necessary change to make became obvious, it was time to go to the Conservatory. Here she took lessons from Tet Koffeman, Yvonne Smeets and Harjo Pasveer, Lydia van Dam en annemarie Maas.
Nowadays Louise performs frequently with her band and het new show "Louise Hensen zingt Nina Simone". They play at various events throughout the Netherlands. Louise likes to improvise, re-invent and always do something new with many of those well known jazz pieces. Songs of her own hand are also played. If you’d like to know where and when the next concert is going to take place, please check the agenda.
